Background
During COVID-19, the London Ambulance Service needed a faster, smarter way to get patient information to clinicians in the field. Robosoft partnered with the NHS Innovation and Intelligent Automation team at the Royal Free Hospital to design and build a mobile crew app to put secure, real-time patient data directly inside emergency response vehicles.
The challenges
Addressing the
critical gaps
Clinicians needed full patient records available with no delays or manual lookups while they were en route.
The app had to connect reliably with live hospital data sources while meeting strict NHS security and compliance standards.
Every screen had to be clear and fast to navigate for paramedics working under time-critical, high-stress conditions.
With COVID workflows changing constantly, the app needed to adapt quickly without disrupting frontline operations.

The Robosoft solution
Designed specifically for iOS on iPad, the app delivers structured patient records such as vitals, medications, allergies, test results, and care plans with minimal steps and zero friction.

The app connects directly to NHS digital systems, giving paramedics instant access to live patient data and turning the ambulance into a connected care node within the wider NHS ecosystem.

Built through iterative cycles with continuous input from ambulance crews and stakeholders, ensuring the app stayed aligned with real-world frontline needs throughout the pandemic.
