BACKGROUND
The Chosen is the first multi-season TV drama about the life of Jesus, recognized twice by Guinness World Records as the most translated streaming series in history. Its audience spans Brazil, Nigeria, Ethiopia, rural India and dozens of markets where internet infrastructure is inconsistent and device budgets are tight. When Come and See Foundation decided to rebuild their digital platform, millions of existing viewers and millions more potential ones needed a streaming experience that actually worked for them, not one designed for a broadband connection in a major city. They came to Robosoft to build it.
THE CHALLENGES
Addressing the
critical gaps
Originally scoped for six months, the engagement was compressed to 100 days, demanding rapid team ramp-up, parallel workstreams and flawless execution across nine platforms simultaneously.
A significant portion of the global audience lives in regions where mobile data is expensive, connections unreliable and the dominant low and mid-range Android handset. Standard streaming simply did not work for them.
Come and See Foundation had an existing platform with real users and viewing history. User accounts, preferences and historical data all needed to carry across cleanly, without disrupting anyone already watching.

Flagship iOS and Android apps, connected TV apps for Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Samsung TV and LG TV, plus a fully functional web app, all built in parallel from a single monorepo codebase.
A 10MB native Android app designed specifically for Low and mid-range devices that dominate emerging markets. Adaptive streaming adjusts to available bandwidth; offline viewing lets users download and watch without a live connection.
Multilingual support across 197+ languages via a Crowdin-Strapi integration, allowing new translations to be published without touching the underlying platform. User accounts, viewing history and inherited data challenges resolved in parallel.
A new Strapi CMS and AWS-backed infrastructure with microservices architecture, designed to scale and straightforward enough for a non-profit team to manage content without requiring engineering involvement for every update.

Come and See Foundation launched an end-to-end streaming ecosystem across nine platforms, in 197+ languages, within a timeline that most teams would not have attempted. The CAS Flagship and Lite apps launched to a 4.9 rating on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
With 9.2M monthly active users and 1.5M installs across 160+ countries, the platform now reaches viewers in markets that standard streaming products were not designed to serve, through adaptive streaming, offline viewing and a product built for low and mid-range devices for Lite app.
Content can be updated, translated and distributed without rebuilding infrastructure. New markets and platforms can be added without starting over. For an organization whose purpose is global reach, that is not a technical outcome. It is the mission itself.
