Radioplayer, a non-profit radio technology company backed by the BBC and commercial radio groups, represents thousands of broadcasters across Europe and Canada. As the automotive industry rapidly transitions to connected, software-defined vehicles, Radioplayer partnered with Robosoft to build a hybrid radio platform for the Android Automotive OS that preserves radio’s relevance in connected vehicles era.

THE ROBOSOFT SOLUTION
Created a proof of concept (POC) fully compliant with AAOS guidelines to prove technical feasibility and provide the buyer confidence to make strategic investment decisions.
Developed a hybrid radio application solution combining FM/DAB broadcast with IP radio that automatically switches between sources to ensure optimal audio quality.
Established a new technical architecture, source code, and design system approach (Radioplayer Automotive Repository) to build new commercial opportunities.
Created customizable reference and headless applications enabling automotive OEMs to rapidly integrate radio functionality with minimal development overhead and risk.
Integrated rich metadata from the Worldwide Radioplayer API, displaying real-time program information, song details, station logos, and artist images for enhanced engagement.
Implemented voice control capabilities allowing drivers to change stations and access the infotainment system hands-free, ensuring driver safety.
Designed country-specific UX requirements and user account management features, giving users clear data consent and location controls, meeting privacy expectations.
Introduced performance features like App Bundles, streamlined analysis and debugging of crashes with ANRs (Application Not Responding) to improve application stability and reliability.
